Terms of sale

Last updated 5 September 2026.

These are the terms on which Newbury House sells English lessons. They’re written to be read, and the WhatsApp conversation you have with us before you pay will have covered most of them. If anything here disagrees with anything we said in that conversation, tell us, and we’ll put it right in writing before you pay.

Who you are dealing with

Newbury House is a company registered in the United Kingdom, Companies House number 10077035. Its registered name and registered office are shown at the foot of this page. The quickest way to reach us is WhatsApp, and it’s the channel we use for everything: booking, changes, questions and complaints.

What you are buying

One-to-one English lessons with a named British, UK-qualified teacher, taught from the United Kingdom over Microsoft Teams. A lesson is 55 minutes. You have three a week, at three fixed times agreed with you.

Lessons are sold in three sizes: a week (3 lessons, 600 SAR), a month (12 lessons over four weeks, 1,900 SAR) and a term (36 lessons over twelve weeks, 5,000 SAR). A second person in the same lesson is 25% off. Prices are in Saudi riyals and include everything: there’s no registration fee, and your Oxford coursebook is included.

Prices are reviewed once a year. A change never applies to a block you’ve already paid for.

Before you pay

We match you to a teacher and tell you their name, their qualification, where in the UK they teach from, and the three times we can hold for you. You can then have a 15-minute introductory call with them, free, to make sure they suit you. If you book the call and miss it, we offer one more time; after a second missed call, the times we were holding are released.

Payment is taken to guarantee your teacher and your times. Nothing is booked until it’s paid for.

Paying

Each block is paid in full before it starts, by international Visa or Mastercard, through a payment link we send you. We cannot take mada. Your card issuer converts the riyal price and may add its own fee for an international payment.

Nothing renews on its own. Towards the end of a block we ask whether you want another. If you do, you pay for it; if you don’t, it simply ends.

Paying by the week

A week is three lessons, paid before the first of them. Your times aren’t held from one week to the next: paying for next week takes next week’s times. A week that isn’t paid for isn’t booked, so there’s nothing to cancel. The coursebook comes with your first month or term, not with a single week.

Your teacher

You keep the same teacher for as long as you’re with us. If your teacher doesn’t suit you, tell us and we’ll match you to another within 24 hours, at no charge.

If your teacher can’t teach a lesson, we tell you before the lesson time and offer another time, or another teacher if you prefer, within four hours. If no other teacher is available, the lesson is added to the end of your block and rescheduled within seven days. If your teacher leaves us part-way through a block, we match you to a new one within 24 hours and add a lesson to your block free of charge.

Moving or missing a lesson

Tell us 12 hours or more before a lesson and we’ll move it to another time within the same block, once per block, at no cost. A lesson cancelled with less notice than that, or not attended, counts as taken: your teacher will have prepared for it and turned up.

If you need a longer break, for travel, exams or Ramadan, you can pause. Your three times are held for the first 14 days of a pause, and a pause can last up to 60 days. We agree the restart date with you in writing.

Stopping, and refunds

You can stop at any time. We refund the lessons you haven’t taken, pro rata, to the card you paid with, and we arrange it within 24 hours of your asking. How long the money then takes to reach you depends on your bank.

The one thing we can’t refund is the coursebook once its access code has been issued to you, because the publisher doesn’t take codes back.

Your coursebook

Every student gets Oxford English File digital access at the level their teacher assesses in lesson one. You receive it after your second lesson, once your level is settled, and it’s for your own use. When you move up a level, the next book is included as well.

Students under 18

We teach adults, and 16- and 17-year-olds whose parent or guardian arranges the lessons, pays for them, and is our customer under these terms. We don’t teach younger children.

If something goes wrong

Tell us on WhatsApp. It’s read by the people who run the school, and answered by them. If we can’t put it right, you can stop and take the refund described above.

The law that applies

The law governing these terms, and a statement of your rights as a consumer, are being confirmed by the owner with a solicitor: [TO BE CONFIRMED BY THE OWNER]. Nothing on this page takes away any right you have under the law of the country you live in.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change, the date at the top changes with them, and a change never applies to a block you’ve already paid for.
